| After speaking to a friend of mine (who has just met the cast) I will now withdraw all criticisms I have of Joanna Riding & Martine McCutcheon! They are both great at what they do! |

Andrew, if you want to wage a personal vendetta against Chris or any other poster, would you have the decency to take it up with them privately via messenger. Please don't (m)acerbate in public. It's not nice.

I have not been on this site for ages! I have only just seen this and think it very witty for someone to do such a pathetic thing!! Andy G is in da house!!! (PS Chrisball you are obsessed!)

| You'd have to ask Michael, Zoe or Uncle Johnny . . . ;-)

Can Martine sing? Yes. But I don't think she's best suited to musical theatre. Chris MC Ball. Are you any relation to Michael? Or even Zoe?

Well I do know about things like that, and the fact is that anything sub-standard would not make it through. The differences between a studio and a theatre are incredible. Acoustically, you will never replicate the real sound of a theatre irrespective of the plug-ins that you use to enhance the recording. You can do anything to improve a recording (just look at half of the pop acts who can't sing . . . bitter irony . . . ;-) ) A recording can be anything you want it to be, so I would argue that the difference was caused by you being "in the moment". A combination of a good voice, some steady acting, a receptive audience and a good sound technician in the theatre can result in the perfect moment. ("This is my moment, this is my perfect moment . . . " Wasn't that a lyric from somewhere?) Anyway. MC Ball is in da house. All the best, Chris

Lucy please don't apologise, I know exactly what you mean and I agree with you. I think her Show Me was lovely when I saw her on stage. However when I fist listened to her version of it on the CD, it didn't sound half as strong as when she was singing it live. Probably just a bad day in the recording studio, but I don't really know much about things like that.

Maybe we have different versions but I disagree. I thought show me was the song that she really took off in. Remember musicals are as much about acting as singing and I honestly believe that in that song she really caught the essence of the lyrics! Sorry.

| Martine has a lovely voice and sang brilliantly in My Fair Lady

| I'm sorry, I'm not convinced. I never saw her, but the CD makes me cringe! I think perhaps if it had all been in a slightly lower key... things may have been... different!

Well, *I* can sing -- that doesn't mean you want to hear me do it. The question should be "Can Martine McCutcheon sing *well*?" And I honestly never saw her and I don't have the CD, so I'm not voting -- just picking on Chris *g*.

YES! (although I think Show Me was possibly a weak moment-on the CD at least-I thought she sang beautifully in the show.)
