Thread Review for Seating at Dury Lane (newest post first)

I found that its not so much the view that is the problem in this wonderful theatre, but its the temperature.  If you sit anywhere above the Grand Circle, it does get extremly hot in these areas.  On my second vist to see My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal Dury Lane I was sat in the Upper Circle and the heat was unbearable for myself and several others and we had to leave the auditorium, which was a great shame.  The 'front of house' team where however very helpful and explained that they find it hard dealing with the heat and in the summer last year they even had people fainting in the heat.  Please, however, don't let this deter you from going and seeing this fantastic show, it is a pure delight the whole way through.  My advice is to tyr and sit as low down in the theatre as possible.  Enjoy the show!

Should be fine. I had back of the grand circle which is about the same distance as front of the upper circle. There are always binoculars which is nice for expressions! Anyway it's not the Albert Hall. It's a relatively medium-sized, intimate theatre and there aren't that many restricted viewing seats (sorry that was barely grammer! I'm tired.) so you should be fine. OK?

So is the Upper Circle not particularly good for viewing. I am organising a trip to see My Fair Lady following our own hugely successful Production. We are travelling to London for the Weekend in August and I currently have 25 seats on hold in the upper circle, all of Row c and part of Row D, directly behind. I was advised that these were good seats.......is someone telling porky pies here. I would be grateful of any reponse as we would all be gutted if we travelled at that way and couldn't see very well!!! :confused

Take heart, dom ohanlon, I don't think you have the worst seats in the theatre.  I think I was something like row S, so you are further forward than I was. Judging by your seat number, I think you're in one of the side blocks too.  You will find that the balcony overhangs the Upper Circle and this may be distracting (you can't see the very top of the stage) although it shouldn't affect your view of the action. I hope you're not too tall as there isn't much legroom here. It's also very hot up there, so take my advice, don't overdress.  Having said all that, I still enjoyed the show from up there and I'm sure you will.

I've been in the upper circle once before, about two months ago. If I remember rightly I was in the middle of the left hand block about halfway back. It wasn't too bad, the view wasn't restricted but it was a bit too far from the stage for my liking.  Difficult, therefore, to catch the finer points of the interaction between Higgins and Eliza, for example, but OK for the ensemble scenes. I used the glasses quite a lot.  Obviously it depends on how far back you are. Which row and seat numbers have you got?

Hiya everyone!
I am in a dilemma, and wonder if anyone out there can help me. I am going to see the show in June, and i am worried about the seating plan. I have got tickets in the upper circle, and i am worriying weather you have a reasonable view, and what u can see, ect... As it is getting closer, i am worrying more and more!
Can any one tell me what the seats are like, and put my mind at rest! Thanks!

Please reply

Dom
