David White
Musical Supervisor

David White was educated at Christ Church, Oxford and studied conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, where he won the RAM prize for outstanding achievement in opera. He formed the Pro Arte chamber orchestra and Opera Plus, producing and conducting Clever Women, Bastien and Bastienne, and La Serva Padrona.

As Musical Director for the Mayer-Lismann Opera Workshop, he specialised in Mozart, Verdi, Wagner and Strauss. He joined New Sadler's Wells Opera in 1987 as Chorus Master and graduated to Staff Conductor for Bitter Sweet, La Belle Helene and The Gondoliers in New York. In 1989 he joined Les Misérables at the Palace Theatre, London as Musical Director, then supervising productions in Stockholm, Paris, Poland, Manchester and Madrid.

He produced the cast albums for the Manchester and Swedish productions, winning Swedish Record of the Year in 1991. He also supervised Yusopov (McConnell/Hesketh-Harvey) for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1994 Sydmonton Festival.

He teaches at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music on their new musical theatre course, having directed there, The Canterville Ghost (McConnell/Drew), based on the story by Oscar Wilde. He was Musical Director of the original London production of Sunset Boulevard at the Adelphi, and Musical Supervisor for the German production.

In 1996 he re-established his links with Schönberg and Boublil by returning as Musical Supervisor on Les Misérables, Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre (original London production). He has supervised on new UK touring productions of Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, and produced the musical Killing Rasputin at the Bridewell Theatre.

His company, Remaster Limited, are now responsible for the keyboard sounds of Cats, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Killing Rasputin, Honk, Fosse, La Cava, Peter Pan, The Phantom of the Opera and The Witches of Eastwick.

He recently supervised a new production of Les Misérables in Buenos Aires.
