It was for seven years that Gareth and Norman Pace (with Fundation) paid their dues at the Tramshed and whilst at the Edinburgh Festival they were spotted by Alan Nixon and eventually secured a Radio 4 series of their own. And the rest as they say, is history.
Extensive television exposure over the years has secured Hale & Pace true International stardom. Their shows have included “Pushing Up Daisy’s” and “Coming Next” for Channel 4, “The Management” which was their sitcom debut for Channel 4, two series of “The Saturday Gang” for ITV and ten series of “The Hale & Pace Show” – the first of which won the much coveted Golden Rose of Montreaux and the press prize. This was followed by a number of documentaries entitled “Jobs For The Boys” for BBC1, where they were taught to play Polo to a competitive level; wrote a song for the Eurovision Song Contest and commentated live on Grandstand. They were also delighted to have been invited to perform on two Royal Variety Performances.
As well as the above, Gareth also starred in “A Pinch Of Snuff” – the first Reginald Hill drama for Yorkshire Television; “April Fools Day” a one-off comedy drama written by Tony Jordan about two warring neighbours and their long suffering wives; “The Scarlet Tunic” the Thomas Hardy period costume drama and most recently, Gareth could be seen playing the regular character ‘Doug Mackenzie’ in the Channel Five soap “Family Affairs”
Theatre productions include playing the parts of ‘Grant’ in “Perfect Pitch”, ‘Lucky Eric’ in the UK tour of “Bouncers” and of course, ‘Alfred P Doolittle’ in the UK tour of “My Fair Lady”.
