What can i say? On Saturday March 30th i had the privilege to meet the fine actress who plays Eliza Doolittle! Not only is she polite, she took up minutes of her time to talk to me and to sign autographs for me and my little sister. I just wish now that i had waited before i started up the other topic about how dreadful her clip was because she is one of the most excellent singers and actresses that i have ever met! With such a wonderful person playing Eliza( although Martine was still blooming excellent) it would be a sin to miss a viewing of this wonderful musical! By george Joanna YOU DID IT, and you SHOWed ME a thing or two!! My letter is in the post! Well Done x

Her beautiful looks must come from her wonderful personality and inner-being! Keep up the excellent work Joanna!

OK, so now I've seen all three Elizas (not counting Kerry Ellis - sorry!) I was very impressed with Jo Riding and the way she took on the character of Eliza, her maturity, confidence and experience certainly showed. I loved the cheeky way she came across in the early scenes but did find her speaking voice a bit strange. I soon got used to that though and I would have to say that she was by far the best Eliza I've seen.

I thought Martine was excellent in the early scenes but I couldn't quite accept her as the 'new' Eliza and the conservatory scene never worked for me when MM was in the role. (to be fair I only saw her twice) I thought her voice was 'pretty' but simply not strong enough for some of the songs. I also thought that her 'move yer bloomin arse' was a bit lame as well.

Alex Jay is good in the early scenes but truly shines when she becomes a 'lady'. Her youth and looks are on her side and I liked her voice too.

I'm not an actress or a singer so this is just my opinion of what I saw and liked, or didn't like, whichever the case may be

Did anybody else see Kerry Ellis? I saw her on Easter Monday and although I was a bit disappointed it wasn't Jo or Alex, I thought she did very well, good singing voice, plenty of energy, although not quite the same chemistry with Jonathan Pryce that the others had. He gave her a kiss at the curtain call though and made her take an extra bow.

I have seen three Elizas-excluding Kerry- and i have to say each of them has made the roles theirs and i was amazed by all three performances. They are all three truly wonderful performers and i enjoyed them all.
