In response to Peta's question, no, my favourite is Les Mis, and I regret to say I haven't made it back over to MFL yet. In my defence, it entails a long walk home in the middle of the night or else the use of three different tube lines, which would take just as long and be just as tiring.
I'm looking into tickets tomorrow for this weekend, though, since it should be a bit warmer.
I love MFL because Pygmalion is one of my favourite plays, and MFL fills in some of the gaps in scenes, plus it's often easier to find a production of MFL than to find a production of Pygmalion.

If you do make it this weekend, I'd be interested to read your review. I'm waiting now until Alex joins. You think you've got it hard, try a 15 minute bus journey, 4(+) hours on the train and a half hour walk or two tube changes...
Peta, I can never answer the question about favourite musical because it changes with the weather, my mood and the particular cast and production. But My Fair Lady is up there, along with Candide, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Mis, Chess etcetera etcetera etcetera. How about you?

I think my all time favourite is Les Miserables. I can listen to it over and over. With My Fair Lady I enjoy watching it on stage, but I don't play the CD a lot.

Nicol-we seen to have much the same taste in shows!
I started with Evita-which got me to chess(50 times!)-
which led to everything else.Superstar was also a fav.

I think it would be easier to name the musicals I didn't like! I just love musicals! I have so many on cd and I see about one every month. Some one once said 'music speaks where words can't' and I truly agree with that! Just watch 'Moulin Rouge'. Other than being a feast for the eyes (how can Baz Lurman not be nominated for the best director oscar?) it upholds everything I believe about love, and the music catches the true emotion better than words. Say the lyrics and they sound daft, sing them and they wrench at your heart strings!...and the 'look my dear, a little frog' moment is hysterical! LOL!
P.S. Bravo Nicol! Your ditty is v.good!

I'm afraid that I'm one of those people who has been viewing but not posting mesages, so I'd thought I'd say 'hi' here. I've only managed to see MFL once a few weeks ago with Jo Riding; student finances are a bit tight at the moment!
I have the same problem as Peta - I loved the show, but don't listen to the CD so much as I do other shows. It's not that the performances are bad, but I have to be in a certain mood if I am just going to listen to the music.
Favourite musicals are The Witches of Eastwick and Martin Guerre (incidently, are there a few names from (the now defunct) Centerstage MG board here?). I'm hoping that Chitty and Bombay Dreams are going to be good . . .
